SCOTTSDALE, AZ – Powered by Dan Bichette’s (NYY) 3-for-5, two-RBI performance on Thursday, the Scottsdale Scorpions (12-20) came full circle to close out the 2014 campaign in identical fashion to their 2014 AFL opener – with a victory over the Salt River Rafters (17-11).
SCOTTSDALE, AZ – Pirates Minor League Hitter of the Year Josh Bell remained red-hot, going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs on Wednesday, but the Scottsdale Scorpions (10-15) couldn’t weather a 13-hit assault en route to an 8-4 loss to the Salt River Rafters (16-6) at Scottsdale Stadium.
MESA, AZ – The Scottsdale Scorpions (7-8) cruised to an early lead behind two solo homers plus a pair of hits from Pirates catcher Elias Diaz, but the Mesa Solar Sox (8-6) surged late to erase the lead and mount a 7-3 comeback on Thursday night at Cubs Park.
SURPRISE, AZ – Greg Bird (NYY) homered twice and Pirates pitching prospect Tom Harlan tossed three innings with just one hit and no earned runs (two runs), but the opposing Surprise Saguaros (5-4) rallied for five runs and a 7-3 victory over the Scottsdale Scorpions (5-4) on Thursday night at Surprise Stadium.
MESA, AZ – Pirates left Joely Rodriguez fired three shutout innings, Josh Bell (PIT) turned in his second straight multi-hit game and the Scottsdale Scorpions (5-2) outslugged the Mesa Solar Sox (1-5) 10-7 on Tuesday afternoon at Cubs Park.
