Howdy Cougars! I bet some of you out there reading this are Michigan fans. I bet others of you are Michigan State fans. I could probably even bet that some of you are Ohio State fans (Sorry!).
It’s been a couple of weeks since the Michigan vs. Michigan State game. Even though Spring Arbor doesn’t have a football team, that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the other Michigan colleges’ football teams. We can enjoy intramural flag football though!
For Michigan fans, it’s painful to think about the game. Michigan’s quarterback Denard Robinson had 3 interceptions, more than he had total in the games previous combined. The final score was 34-17, in favor of Michigan State. The team’s following game against Iowa didn’t go as the Wolverines had hoped. They lost to Iowa 38-28, but it could have been much worse. Going into the fourth quarter, they were down 28-7. Hopefully, the bye week that the Wolverines have recently had has revived the team and they will get back to winning.
For Michigan State fans, it was a wonderful game. Mark Dantonio, the Spartans’ head coach, was back after having a heart attack after the Spartans’ overtime victory against Notre Dame. He wasn’t on the field, but he was in the press box leading his team to a victory. It is the third year in a row that the Spartans have defeated the Wolverines. The Spartans remain undefeated and are ranked fifth in the nation and first in the Big Ten.
For Ohio State fans, you’ll get the rivalry game against Michigan soon enough.
At SAU, the intramural flag football season is getting underway (the guys have already started playing!). If you’d rather watch, grab a blanket and some friends and go watch the guys or gals you know play flag football behind University Hall. The games are always exciting and everyone loves having people there to cheer them on. I’d even make a sign or two, if it’s okay with your friend that is.
Catch ya later Cougs!
