After winning the first two games against the Durham Bulls, the Indianapolis Indians split the series before hosting the Gwinnett Braves for four games to complete an eight-game home stand.

After a one-run performance by Tyler Waldron and a complete game shutout by A.J. Morris in games one and two of the home stand, the Tribe turned to Nick Kingham for game three against the Bulls. He had a final line of zero runs on five hits in seven innings with eight strikeouts and only one walk. Prior to his Triple-A debut on June 13, Kingham had spent the season with the Altoona Curve. The Indians lost the game 2-1 in the 10th inning.

Jay Jackson started the series finale against the Bulls on Saturday night and earned his second loss of the season as the Bulls combined to score nine runs on the Tribe’s pitching staff and one position player. Matt Hague, who can normally be found as one of the corner infielders, came into the game at pitcher for the ninth inning where he walked one batter, but gave up no runs or hits. The first five runs of the game were scored off Jackson in the first inning and the Tribe offense was unable to get close enough for a victory and split the series 2-2.

On Sunday afternoon, for Father’s Day, the Tribe began a four-game home series with the Braves. Adam Wilk was on the mound for the Tribe and earned his second win in as many starts as the Tribe drove in nine runs on their way to a 9-4 victory.

Casey Sadler returned to Indianapolis after spending nearly a month with the Pittsburgh Pirates to start game two against the Braves. It was lucky number seven as Sadler earned his team leading seventh win of the season and Andy Oliver earned his seventh save of the season. The Tribe won the game 3-0 with Sadler giving up only four hits and no runs in a five inning outing.

In his second start of the home stand Morris pitched with the same prowess as his complete game, but the Braves were able to drive in one run on five hits off the starter as the Tribe lost 1-2.

The tables were turned on the Braves on Wednesday afternoon, when with Kingham on the mound the Tribe won 2-1. Kingham’s first Indianapolis win came after he pitched seven innings with one run scoring on four hits. He handed the ball over to Vin Mazzaro for his fourth save after pitching two innings with only one hit.

Over the course of the home stand, the Tribe scored 24 runs. Hague now leads the International League in RBIs with 50. He also hit his team leading 10th home run during the eight game stretch at Victory Field. Chase d’Arnaud stole three bases during the home stand and is only one stolen base from being tied with Gregory Polanco (now with the Pirates) for the team lead of 15.

The Indians had an off day on Thursday before they begin a stretch of 10 road games in 10 days – four against the Norfolk Tides, four against the Bulls and two against the Louisville Bats – before returning to host the Toledo Mud Hens on June 30.
