INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Indians are proving early on that it will be difficult for any other team to compete for the International League (IL) West Division championship. Friday night’s 6-4 victory over the Toledo Mud Hens gave them their eighth victory of the season and the best record in the IL.
The rain had just started and the 14,004 fans in attendance for the Indianapolis Indians Opening Night were leaving their seats. In a tied game with the Toledo Mud Hens and one man on and one out in the bottom of the ninth, the Tribe’s Chris Dickerson drove in the winning run.

Action will always occur at home plate. It is the job of the Indianapolis Indians catchers, like former Indians Tony Sanchez and Lucas May, to protect the plate at all costs because the whole point of the game is for runners to get home.
