The men’s soccer team finished a three game road trip with a 3-2 last minute, thriller over Saint Xavier University on Saturday.
Spring Arbor tripped the scoreboard first, on a goal by Abdul Ibrahim assisted by Joel Musambi. Ibrahim punched it in from 10 yards out to the left of St. Xavier keeper Kyle Held only four minutes into the contest.
Twenty minutes later, Ibrahim assisted David Edwardson on the Cougars second goal of the half. This goal was scored at close range on the left side as well.
Saint Xavier would score just before the conclusion of the first half to cut the Cougars lead in half 2-1.
The Cougars gave up a penalty kick in the second half that Saint Xavier capitalized on, tying the game at two goals apiece. The penalty came in the 73rd minute and couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Cougars.
In a game marred with seven yellow cards, four by Spring Arbor, three by Saint Xavier, the Cougars David Edwardson would break the tie with 40 seconds left in regulation and the Cougars would steal the win.
Spring Arbor improves to 7-2 on the season and will open Crossroads League action
