Lady Cougars fall to tenth ranked Wilcats

After a close match on Friday against Saint Francis University the Lady Cougars were looking to come out on top against the Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) Wildcats on Wednesday night.

The ladies were unable to carry their momentum from the weekend into the match, losing to the newly ranked IWU in three straight sets (25-8, 25-17, 25-22).

“We could not control the tempo of the game enough to disrupt IWU’s strong offense,” said head coach Carol Gates.

Even though IWU’s offense was strong, Lyndsay Murray had 12 digs on defense. On the Cougars offensive side Ashley Morris, who had 10 kills against Saint Francis, had 8 kills over the course of the match. Her kills came with the help of Tenille Marowelli, who had 18 assists.

The Lady Cougars have fallen to a record of 1-15 overall and 0-6 in the conference. Hopefully, they will be able to get their first win against a Grace College team who has a 9-4 record when the Lancers visit Spring Arbor on Sept. 21 at 7 p.m.
