Laurel (DE) HS wins state championship

This past spring, the Laurel (Delaware) High School softball team won the fourth state championship in the school’s history and the first in a girls sport.

The girls completed the 2012-13 regular season with a 16-2 record, scoring 131 runs and only giving up 18.

Under the leadership of Jodi Green, her daughters, senior Logan and sophomore Regan, helped lead the team past AI DuPont in round one, Red Lion CA in the quarterfinals and Padua HS in the semifinals.

They faced off against Woodside Polytech High School for the state championship. Regan pitched the final and did so with finesse retiring all 21 batters and with 15 strikeouts. Logan singled in the last at bat of her high school career.
