Located in Sandy, Utah is Jordan High School.
Once serving as the school of an all-rural community Jordan is now comprised of students from urban, suburban and rural communities.
The students at Jordan are known as “Beetdiggers.” This nickname dates back to when the students were dismissed early to help area farmers harvest the sugar beets.
Each year at the opening assembly student government officers take a bite of a sugar beet. This is a way to embrace the “Beetdigger” spirit and reminds the students of their history even though the sugar beet industry has left the area.
