The Indianapolis Indians were unable to transfer their success behind the pitching of Nick Kingham on Tuesday night against the Durham Bulls in the next two games as they lost on Wednesday 6-3 and again on Thursday 8-2.
On Wednesday night, Jake Brigham returned to the mound for the second time since his stint on the disabled list. He pitched five innings in which he gave up three runs on two hits (both of which were home runs).
Robert Andino, Chris Dickerson and Chris McGuiness all had RBIs for the Tribe, as they knocked in runs in the third, fifth and sixth, respectively.
Tyler Waldron was the losing pitcher on the night as he gave up the Bulls’ go-ahead runs in the sixth. Jhonathan Ramos made his Triple-A debut when he pitched the eighth inning. He gave up two hits, but held the Bulls to no runs.
On Thursday night, the Tribe called on Adam Wilk to extend his win streak to four and to help the Tribe take another game from the Bulls. Unfortunately, Wilk was not at his best as he gave up six runs on 10 hits in 4.1 innings pitched. It was his shortest outing as a starter since May 26 when he pitched 4.2 innings against the Buffalo Bisons.
Thanks to Matt Hague and Brent Morel, the Tribe wasn’t held to zero runs. They each drove in one run – Hague had an RBI single in the first and Morel knocked in a run in the fourth.
Casey Sadler is expected to be the Indians’ starting pitcher for the series finale set to start at 7:05 p.m.
