Adam Wilk won his third consecutive game for the Indianapolis Indians as he pitched his third straight quality outing against the Norfolk Tides on Saturday evening.
Wilk’s start lasted seven innings as did his two previous starts He has recorded a 2.57 ERA (six earned runs in 21.0 innings pitched) since June 10. On Saturday night, the Tides scored two runs (1 earned) on six hits off Wilk. Andy Oliver gave up a run during his single inning of relief. This is the first time he has given up a run since June 6 against the Syracuse Chiefs.
The offensive combo of Jaff Decker and Nevin Ashley helped lead the Tribe to a 10-4 victory. Decker went 3-for-5 at the plate with a two-run home run in the third inning. Ashley had four RBIs on the night as he went 3-for-4 with two doubles and his first triple of the season. Ashley was able to drive in all those runs because Chris McGuiness went 4-for-5 right in front of him in the batting order.
Chris Dickerson was back in the leadoff spot on Saturday. He has knocked in 20 runs and scored 25 runs in 142 at-bats (36 games) from that spot in the lineup. He has also hit safely in 27 of 29 starts (27 of 30 games) on the road and has a batting average of .328 when the Indians are not playing at Victory Field.
The Tribe continues their series against the Tides on Sunday afternoon when they send Casey Sadler to the mound to start game three at 1:05 p.m.
