Colorado cornerback ties newly set interception record

Thornton (Colorado) Horizon High School’s cornerback Dominick Castiglione became the second player to return three interceptions for touchdowns in one quarter.

The last player to accomplish this feat was Brock Harmon of Washington (Oklahoma) High School on October 11.

No player had ever returned three interceptions for touchdowns in a single quarter and it seemed inconceivable to have a player do it again. Fifteen days after Harmon’s performance, Castiglione tied the record.

It took four plays and 1:17 for Castiglione to achieve three pick-sixes in Horizon’s 36-7 victory over Fossil Ridge (Colorado) High School on October 26. It took Harmon six minutes.

“I was standing on the sideline and thinking, ‘What was happening?’” said Castiglione’s coach Frank Ybarra in an interview with “The Denver Post.”

Castiglione’s feat is in the process of being verified for inclusion into the Record Book.
