RECENT RESULTS: The Tigers lost their fourth straight game on Sunday night, falling to the Angels 4-2 at Angel Stadium. Miguel Cabrera and J.D. Martinez each had a hit and a run scored in the loss, while James McCann added a RBI. David Price started for the Tigers and took the loss after allowing four runs on eight hits with four walks and six strikeouts in 7.2 innings. The Tigers open a three-game series against the Athletics tonight. Following the series vs. Oakland, the Tigers hit the road for a three-game road trip vs. the White Sox.

ROSTER UPDATE: The Tigers have announced the following roster moves: – The Tigers today have purchased the contract of infielder Josh Wilson from Triple A Toledo. Wilson hit .291 (37×127) with 15 runs scored, nine doubles and 10 RBI for the Mud Hens.

– Infielder Hernan Perez today was claimed off waivers by the Milwaukee Brewers.

– The Tigers have reinstated righthanded pitcher Alfredo Simon from the bereavement list and he will start tonight’s game vs. Oakland.

– The Tigers have optioned the contract of righthanded pitcher Buck Farmer to Triple A Toledo.

– The Tigers have placed outfielder Rajai Davis on the paternity list.

– The Tigers have recalled the contract of outfielder Daniel Fields from Triple A Toledo. Fields hit .271 (48×177) with 33 runs scored, 15 doubles, seven triples, three home runs and 21 RBI with the Mud Hens.

CABRERA EXTENDS ON BASE STREAK TO 20 GAMES: Miguel Cabrera went 1×3 with a run scored and a walk on Sunday night at Los Angeles to extend his streak of reaching base safely to 20 games. During the 20-game streak, Cabrera is hitting .333 (24×72) with 12 runs scored, four doubles, one triple, five home runs and 13 RBI. Cabrera’s streak is the longest active streak in the American League. Cabrera leads the AL with a .441 on-base percentage.

LOOKING BACK AT MAY: The Tigers finished the month of May with a 13-16 record. It marked the first time Detroit has finished under .500 in a month since May, 2012 when they also went 13- 16. As a team, the Tigers hit .261 (259×993) in May, while the pitching staff compiled a 3.71 ERA (257.0IP/106ER). The Tigers bullpen finished the month with a 2.05 ERA (83.1IP/19ER), which was the lowest in the majors.

MIGGY ON THE MARK AGAINST OAKLAND: Miguel Cabrera has compiled impressive numbers in his career against the Athletics. Cabrera is hitting .329 (68×207) with 41 runs scored, 14 doubles, 17 home runs and 54 RBI in 57 career games vs. Oakland. Cabrera leads all active players with a .430 on-base percentage and a .643 slugging percentage vs. Oakland and ranks third with a .329 batting average. Cabrera has hit safely in 16 of his last 20 games vs. the Athletics.

Miguel Cabrera, who is a nine-time All-Star and is looking to start the All-Star Game for the third straight year, leads all American League first basemen with 2,123,752 votes. Jose Iglesias, who is looking to make his first career All- Star appearance, ranks second among AL shortstops with 1,277,655 votes. Tigers are also among the leaders at second base (Ian Kinsler, third place) designated hitter (Victor Martinez, fifth place) and outfield (Yoenis Cespedes, sixth place; J.D. Martinez, 15th place).
