Indians lose 5-3 to Toledo for third straight loss

It was another night and another loss for the Indianapolis Indians against the Toledo Mud Hens on Tuesday.

Adam Wilk pitched well considering that in his last start he didn’t make it past the fifth inning, but earned his seventh loss of the season when the Tribe lost 5-3.

Wilk lasted six innings this outing, while giving up four runs (two earned) on eight hits. He was one shy of his career-high in strikeouts with eight and walked only two. His ERA is still elevated, sitting at 4.58, but he had a 2.78 ERA in his four starts in June.

Matt Hague was the offensive star of the game as he was 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs and two runs scored. One of his his RBIs and runs came on a solo home run that was hit well beyond the left-field fence at Victory Field in the seventh inning. He drove in Jaff Decker during the fourth inning, when the Tribe was only down by two runs. Hague also scored the Indians’ last run on a single by Michael Martinez.

The Indians are on the road for two games against the Louisville Bats before returning home to start their Fourth of July home stand that lasts 10 days.

With a single, double and home run as well as being involved in all three of the Tribe’s runs, Matt Hague had the best performance of the night.
