Hey Cougars! The men’s soccer team may have lost 3-0 to Calumet College of St. Joseph on Friday, but the vuvuzela was brought to the Spring Arbor soccer field.
For anybody that watched the World Cup, you know what a vuvuzela is and for those of you who don’t know, here is the definition: an instrument similar to that of a trumpet that soccer fans blow to make a loud noise that is similar to the trumpeting of an elephant.
There is an awesome cheering section that goes to soccer games to get the crowd and team pumped. Maybe you’ve seen a guy wearing a kilt with a blue cross on his face, well he’s a part of that cheering section and if you look out for announcements on the new “announcement tvs” you might catch one about them. Recently, they just had a “Be a Superhero” at the soccer game. I know they would appreciate it if you came out and cheered with them. I would definitely enjoy it.
I do know that I don’t need a vuvuzela to make a ton of noise. I bet if I growled at the other team, they’d be intimated.
So Cougars, the next time your free come out and check out the men’s soccer team (the women’s team would like to be cheered on too). I hope to see you there and maybe you’ll be able to get your own vuvuzela. I’d ask the guy in the kilt about it.
Catch ya later, Cougs!
