RECENT RESULTS: The Tigers has their three-game winning streak snapped on Saturday as they fell to the White Sox, 12-3. J.D. Martinez hit his team-leading fifth home run of the season in the loss, while Miguel Cabrera and Nick Castellanos each added a hit and a RBI. Anibal Sanchez started for the Tigers and received the loss after giving up nine runs on nine hits with two walks and two strikeouts in 3.1 innings. The Tigers and White Sox play the rubber game of their three-game series this afternoon. Following today’s game, the Tigers continue their 10-game homestand as they host the Yankees for four games and the Indians for three games.

J.D. POWER: J.D. Martinez belted his fifth home run of the season in yesterday’s loss. Martinez’s five home runs this season ranks him second in the American League and trails only Seattle’s Nelson Cruz, who has hit six homers.

STREAKING: Nick Castellanos extended his hitting streak to six games with a pinch-hit RBI single in the ninth inning of Saturday’s game. Over his last six games, Castellanos is hitting .381 (8×21) with two doubles and one RBI.

THREE TIGERS WITH IMPRESSIVE NUMBERS VS. QUINTANA: Miguel Cabrera, Rajai Davis and Victor Martinez have each has success in their careers against today’s White Sox starter, Jose Quintana. Cabrera is hitting .350 (7×20) with a double, a home run and three RBI vs. Quintana, while Davis has a .385 (10×26) batting average with three doubles, one home run and one RBI. Martinez is hitting .389 (7×18) with two RBI in his career vs. Quintana. Among active players with at least 15 at bats vs. Quintana, Martinez’s batting average ranks sixth, while Davis ranks seventh and Cabrera ranks ninth.

GOOD GLOVEWORK: The Detroit defense has been solid through the first two weeks of the season. The Tigers enter today’s game ranked fourth in the American League with a .992 fielding percentage. Detroit has committed just three errors in the first 11 games of the season, which is tied for fewest errors in the AL.

TIGERS GETTING OFFENSIVE: The Tigers are near the top of several offensive categories entering today’s game. Detroit currently ranks second in the American League with a .301 batting average, a .368 on-base percentage and a .465 slugging percentage, while the Tigers are tied for second with four triples and third with 116 hits.

KIDS OPENING DAY: For the third straight year young Tigers fans will get an Opening Day of their own, sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. Prior to the game there will be a special on-field clinic teaching children from participating charities how to lead a healthy and active lifestyle. Additionally, all Kids 14-and-under will receive a Tigers Team Baseball Card Set, presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network.
