Salutations Cougars! The beginning of a wonderful holiday season is upon us. This year there was this awesome fundraiser done on campus and all you need was a shoebox and lots of love. Samaritan’s Purse does something called Operation Christmas Child where you fill a shoe box with gifts and it gets sent somewhere over the globe. It could be anywhere.
We get to enjoy gifts every Christmas, and we understand the meaning behind Christmas and through Operation Christmas Child our campus was able to share that same love to children all over the world who don’t get Christmas gifts. My friends and I stuffed 2 boxes. We did one for a little girl, ages 2-5, and we also did one for a boy, ages 2-5. We stuffed them with toys, school supplies, stuffed animals and even a note telling them to draw us a picture so we can see what they look like. On the inside of our boxes we wrote, “MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! JESUS LOVES YOU!” It wasn’t much, but to those two children we will have impacted their lives in a big way. That’s important to us.
The day of collection, I saw that there were 11 boxes wrapped on my floor. It was so amazing to see how willing people are to give to those who don’t have as much as we do. It makes you think doesn’t it? Some of the stuff we have, we don’t really need. We just buy it cause we want it. Don’t you agree?
Well, any who, Operation Christmas Child is something that you can do with your church, family, school or friends. Just remember that the main purpose to spread some love to others. I would encourage you to try it out and maybe make it a tradition in your family.
Catch ya later, Cougs!
