RECENT RESULTS: The Tigers had their two-game winning streak snapped on Saturday with a 6-2 loss to Kansas City. Yoenis Cespedes and Victor Martinez each had two hits and scored a run in the loss, while James McCann also contributed two hits. Nick Castellanos drove in both Detroit runs and finished the game 1×3 with a triple. Anibal Sanchez started for the Tigers and took the loss after allowing six runs, five earned, on nine hits with three walks and two strikeouts in 6.0 innings. The Tigers and Royals play the rubber game of their three-game series tonight. Following tonight’s game, Detroit remains at home to face Minnesota in a three-game series.
VMART HEATING UP: After getting off to a slow start this season, Victor Martinez has heated up at the plate in recent games. Martinez has recorded at least two hits in three of his last four games. Over his last four games, Martinez is batting .467 (7×15) with two runs scored, two doubles, one home run and six RBI. During the four-game stretch, Martinez has raised his season batting average from .217 to .245.
STREAKING: James McCann extended his hitting streak to a career-best seven games with a 2×4 performance in yesterday’s game. During his seven-game streak, McCann is batting .462 (12×26) with three runs scored, one double, one home run and three RBI.
DOUBLE YOUR PLEASURE: The Tigers hit three doubles in yesterday’s game and now have 52 doubles on the season. Yoenis Cespedes recorded his 11th double of the season on Saturday and is tied for the American League lead with Seattle’s Robinson Cano.
ALL-STAR VOTING OPEN NOW: Voting has started for Major League Baseball’s 86th All-Star Game held at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati. MLB’s All-Star Balloting Program is the largest of its kind in professional sports and this year will be conducted exclusively online. Fans around the world can cast their votes for position starts 35 times by visiting tigers.com/vote. Voting is open now through July 2 and fans are encouraged to vote early and often. Last year, Miguel Cabrera was elected as the American League’s starting first baseman, marking the second time he has been selected to start an All-Star Game.
GOING TO BAT AGAINST BREAST CANCER: Major League Baseball and the Detroit Tigers have partnered with Komen for the Cure to go to bat against breast cancer. The Tigers donated 1,000 tickets to breast cancer survivors, volunteers and their families from the Detroit Race for the Cure to attend the Mother’s Day game. More than 250 breast cancer survivors will be invited onto the field and recognized prior to the national anthem. In addition, Heidi Westphal, the Tigers winner from Major League Baseball’s Honorary Bat Girl contest to recognize inspirational fans that have been affected by breast cancer will be honored prior to the start of the game and will throw a ceremonial first pitch. During the game, players from both clubs will use pink bats, and all baseballs will have pink stitching.
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY: Prior to Sunday’s game, 250 breast cancer survivors from the Komen Race for the Cure and 500 Moms that will be selected upon entry, will be invited onto the field for a special pre-game recognition and will receive a Mother’s Day t-shirt.

- The ceremonial first pitches will be thrown out by MLB’s Honorary Bat Girl for the Detroit Tigers and breast cancer survivor, Heidi Westphal, along with Maureen Meldrum, retired Race Chair for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
- The national anthem and God Bless America will be performed by 14-year-old vocalist Rachel Miltimore from the Michigan Opera Theatre Children’s Chorus.
- The first 10,00 moms will receive a 2015 Detroit Tigers Mother’s Day Photo Tumbler, courtesy of Pepsi and the first 10,000 kids 14-and-under will receive a 2015 Detroit Tigers Mother’s Day Tumbler, courtesy of Aquafina.
