Men’s soccer tie Goshen in League opener

After an exciting, last minute victory over the University of Saint Francis, the Cougars were hosts to the visiting Goshen College, where the Cougars received their first tie of the season.

The game was evenly matched throughout most of the first half until Goshen scored before the beginning of half time. The second half started out much the same way as the first did. Both teams were strong defensively and both offenses were kept to no goals. That was until Cody Getsinger scored for the Cougars near the end of the game.

The Cougars and Maple Leafs were tied at the conclusion of regulation and headed into overtime. Both teams were unable to score, with Jeffrey Addai and Joel Musambi being the only Cougars to have shots on goal during that period.

During the second overtime period neither team scored with Musambi and Godwin Addai having the only shots on goal for SAU.

The men are now 7-1-2 and will travel to Indianapolis to face off against Marian College on Sept. 26. They will return home to host Bethel College at 2 p.m. on Sept. 29.
