May 2015
Dear Tigers Fan,
Thank you for your recent letter to the Detroit Tigers. We appreciate you taking the time to write us and appreciate your support all season long. We are lucky to have some of the most supportive fans in baseball!
The Tigers started the month of May leading the American League Central division after opening the 2015 season 9-1. The Tigers tied the 1984, 1968 and 1911 teams for the best 10-game start in franchise history.
After a month of play, the Tigers offense is anything but quiet. Yoenis Cespedes along with Miguel Cabrera lead the team in RBI, J.D. Martinez leads the team in home runs and five players are batting over .300 (Andrew Romine, Jose Iglesias, Cabrera, Anthony Gose and Rajai Davis). The new additions to the Tigers’ starting rotation, Alfredo Simon and Shane Greene, both continue to pitch well after going 4-0 and 3-0, respectively to open the season.
The club returns home the beginning of May for six games against Kansas City and Minnesota. The team hits the road for a weekend series against the St. Louis Cardinals before a seven-game homestand that includes three games against the Milwaukee Brewers and four games against the Houston Astros. The Tigers close out the month on the west coast, facing the Oakland Athletics and the Los Angeles Angels.
