“Lady Antebellum”

“Lady Antebellum,” a popular country group, recently released their third album, “Own the Night,” a 12-track CD that includes their single released this summer, “Just a Kiss.”

Their self-titled album was erased in 2008 and their second album, “Need You Now,” released in 2010, won the Grammy for Record of the Year and included their single “Need You Now,” which won the Grammy for the Song of the Year at the 2011 Grammys.

In comparison to their other albums, “Own the Night” is much more laid-back. There are fewer upbeat songs and more songs which refer to love, which might be a result of the group’s only female member, Hilary Scott, getting engaged during the time the album was being worked on.

The album included sweet love songs like “Dancin’ Away with My Heart” and “We Own the Night.” They are beautiful in their simplicity, and their lyrics are powerful enough to hit home to a lovebird of any age.

Lyrics like “I finally asked you to dance/On the last slow dance” and “Tell me have you ever wanted/Someone so much it hurts” from “Dancin’ Away with My Heart” and “We Own the Night,” respectively are meant for any couple to share with each other.

Just like the rest of “Lady Antebellum’s” albums, “Own the Night” is not just a country CD but also could be considered pop, just like recent albums from Rascal Flatts and Carrie Underwood.

Overall, I expect good things to come from this album. It is different from the other albums, and though people may not be used to this style from “Lady Antebellum,” it should be enjoyed by most of the country audience. Die-hard “Lady Antebellum” fans will enjoy listening to the album all the way through.

Since its release date, “Own the Night” has charted to number two on the iTunes top record list. I definitely encourage you to go out and listen to the 90 second previews on iTunes.

This album can be purchased in stores, on iTunes or Amazon.com and can be listened to for free on Spotify.
