After a three hour game on Tuesday, the Indianapolis Indians and Buffalo Bisons had two quick games – both lasting under three hours – on Wednesday and Thursday winning 5-2 and 3-2, respectively . Now they’re about to start the second half of the eight-game home stand with four games against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.
For Wednesday’s day game, Vance Worley dominated the Bisons’ lineup. He went eight innings with four hits and a career-high in strikeouts (10). The Bisons scored two runs in the third inning and were held to only one hit in the ninth inning when Josh Kinney was on the mound.
The Tribe scattered runs throughout the game – scoring in the second, fourth, fifth and seventh innings. Jaff Decker singled in a run after Brent Morel led the second inning off with a double. Morel crossed the plate again in the fourth, this time courtesy of a Blake Davis single. Chris McGuiness had an RBI single in the fifth. Matt Hague drove in another run in the seventh, while the second run came on a play where Gregory Polanco was caught stealing second.
On Thursday night, it seemed as though Mother Nature wouldn’t let the Bisons and Indians play the last game of the series, but just before the Tribe’s youth clinic was scheduled to start the rain that had hit Indianapolis had stopped. Jake Brigham earned his second win of the season as the Tribe rolled to a 3-2 victory.
Tyler Waldron and Andy Oliver pitched in relief earning a hold and save, respectively. The Tribe pitching staff combined for two runs on seven hits, striking out five and walking one.
On offense, it was the home run that lifted the Tribe to victory. It was a two-run shot by Decker in the third to tie the game and a solo hot by Hague in the sixth to take the lead.
Casey Sadler is on the mound looking for his seventh win as the Tribe hosts the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders for a four-game weekend series spanning Friday to Monday. The Indians were swept by the RailRiders earlier in the month when the Tribe was on the road. Game time is 7:05 p.m. with Friday Night Fireworks following the game.
