Prior to the scorefest that was the fifth inning the Tribe had posted one run in the third. They tacked on two more in the fourth, before the RailRiders tied it up at the top of the fifth.
Jay Jackson was on the mound for the Tribe making his fifth start of the season. He pitched four scoreless innings with two hits, while walking three and striking out five.
Due to the spot start by Jackson, the Tribe went deep into their bullpen. Daniel Schlereth, Cody Eppley, Josh Wall and Josh Kinney combined for six runs on 11 hits. They also walked three and struck out four in a game that lasted almost four hours.
Pat Venditte, a reliever in the Scranton/WB bullpen is different form other pitchers. He’s ambidextrous and pitches with both hands. There are certain rules that he has to abide by – he must select which he hand he’s going to pitch with before the batter steps into the box. He can, however, change his mind between batters. He mad an appearance in Friday night’s game pitching two scoreless innings with one hit and one strikeout.
The man known as “Mr. Tiger,” or Al Kaline, will be at Victory Field for Signature Saturday. Ironically, or coincidentally enough, former Detroit Tigers pitcher Adam Wilk will be making the start for the Indians.
