In the third game of a four game series against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, the Indianapolis Indians found themselves on the losing end of a pitcher’s duel.
Tribe starter Brandon Cumpton pitched seven innings giving up two runs, neither earned, on five hits. He walked one batter and struck out three. This was Cumpton’s first loss of the season.
RailRiders starter, Brian Gordon also pitched seven innings giving up one run on seven hits. He walked two and also struck out three.
The Tribe’s only run came in the first inning following a Jaff Decker double. Decker scored on an RBI double by Gregory Polanco. This was Decker’s third consecutive game with a hit and Polanco has driven in the Tribe’s only run in back-to-back games.
Andy Oliver pitched the eighth inning for the Indians giving up one run on one hit with two walks and two strike outs.
The Tribe looks to get back on track on Thursday evening in the last game of the series against the RailRiders. Jake Brigham is on the mound for the Indians and the expected start time is 6:35 p.m.
