SCOTTSDALE, AZ – New York Yankees prospect Greg Bird continued his phenom-type AFL season, lifting a three-run homer to extend his hitting streak to 16 games and power the Scottsdale Scorpions (9-9) to a 6-2 triumph over the Peoria Javelinas (5-11) on Monday night at Scottsdale stadium.

Just after receiving news of his AFL Fall Stars selection, Bird celebrated in grand fashion, taking St. Louis Cardinals righty Chris Perry deep to center to score the New York staters Brandon Nimmo (NYM) and Aaron Judge (NYY).

Bird now enters Tuesday having hit safely in each of his 16-games with Scottsdale this season. He is one of only two players in all of the Fall League to notch a double-digit streak, and his 16-gamer is six more than the next closest batter in Oakland’s Boog Powell. Overall, the slugger is currently batting .343 (23-for-67) with four doubles, six homers, 15 runs scored and 17 RBI in those 16 contests, which ranks first in the league in total hits, home runs, extra-base knocks (10), runs, RBI and total bases (45), second in slugging (.672) and seventh in average.

Before the homer, Scorpions starter Adam Morgan (PHI) and his Javelinas counterpart Aaron Northcraft (ATL) dueled with one earned run in their respective outings of four and five innings. However, after top Indians farmhand Francisco Lindor doubled and scored for Peoria in the first, Northcraft fell victim to a pair of infield missus in the bottom of the frame that scored two and put Scottsdale in front for good.

Roman Quinn (PHI) hit a dinger of his own in the second for the Scorpions and his bullpen solidified the victory by allowing a combined four base runners over five shutout innings.
