The Indianapolis Indians scored three runs in the first inning and starter Jay Jackson gave up one run in the third as the Tribe won their second game in a row against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

Jackson struggled in his first few starts of the season, but he’s found himself in a grove. In his last three starts (May 30, June 4 and June 9), he has a 2-0 record giving up three earned runs on 12 hits in 16 innings pitched. He also has combined for 18 strikeouts and six walks.

On Monday night, he kept the IronPigs offense silent, giving up only one run on four hits in six innings. He struck out seven and walked three. He handed the ball over to Wirfin Obispo and Josh Kinney who earned their sixth and second holds, respectively. They combined for two innings of work with three strikeouts, one walk and two hits. Andy Oliver pitched the ninth inning, earning his fifth save of the season.

The Tribe’s runs came in the first inning off of IronPigs’ starter Greg Smith. After that inning, the Tribe’s offense was held to zeros on the scoreboard. Matt Hague drove in the Indians’ first run on a single. A Chris McGuiness groundout scored the Tribe’s next run. The final run was scored when Mel Rojas singled with two outs and runners on second and third.

Adam Wilk has the ball to start the series finale against the IronPigs. Tuesday’s game is set to start at 7:05 p.m.
