RECENT RESULTS: The Tigers dropped the series finale against the Cardinals 2-1 on Sunday night at Busch Stadium. Ian Kinsler finished the game 2×3 with a run scored, while James McCann also added a pair of hits, including a double. Alfredo Simon started for Detroit and took the loss after allowing two runs on seven hits with four walks and four strikeouts in 6.0 innings. The Tigers begin a seven-game homestand tonight as they open a three-game Interleague series vs. the Brewers. Following the series vs. Milwaukee, the Tigers remain at home to face the Astros in a four-game weekend series.

QUALITY WORK FROM SIMON: Alfredo Simon recorded his fifth quality start of the season last night vs. St. Louis, allowing two runs on seven hits with four walks and four strikeouts in 6.0 innings. Over his last three games, Simon has compiled an 0-1 record with a 2.89 ERA (18.2IP/6ER) and 12 strikeouts.

RUN AT YOUR OWN RISK: Yoenis Cespedes threw out Jhonny Peralta at home plate in the seventh inning of last night’s game. The outfield assist for Cespedes was his fourth of the season, which ranks tied for third in the American League. Since the start of the 2012 season, Cespedes has 39 outfield assists, which is the second most in the majors during that time period, trailing only Kansas City’s Alex Gordon, who has 44 outfield assists.

CABRERA, KINSLER NEARING CAREER MILESTONES: Miguel Cabrera and Ian Kinsler enter tonight’s game within reach of career milestones. Cabrera is one RBI away from 1,400 in his major league career, while Kinsler needs one more double to reach the 300 doubles mark in his career.

STREAKING: Jose Iglesias and J.D. Martinez each enter tonight’s game with an eight-game hitting streak, while Miguel Cabrera has a five-game hitting streak.
