RECENT RESULTS: The Tigers snapped their three-game losing streak with a 5-2 win over the Brewers on Wednesday night at Comerica Park. Nick Castellanos broke a 2-2 tie with a three-run triple in the bottom of the eighth inning. Castellanos finished the game with a pair of hits and four RBI. Yoenis Cespedes reached base in all four plate appearances, going 3×3 with two runs scored and a walk. J.D. Martinez extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a pair of hits. Blaine Hardy struck out the only batter he faced in the eighth inning to pick up his second win, while Joakim Soria threw a scoreless ninth inning to earn his 13th save. The Tigers continue their seven-game homestand today as they begin a four-game series vs. the AL West-leading Houston Astros. Following this weekend’s series, the Tigers travel to the West Coast for a seven-game road trip, which includes three games at Oakland and four games at the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

NICK AT NITE: Nick Castellanos came through with the clutch hit on Wednesday night as he hit broke a 2-2 tie with three-run triple in the eighth inning. For Castellanos, it was his first career go-ahead hit in the eighth inning-or-later. The triple for Castellanos was his third of the season, tying him with Rajai Davis and Anthony Gose for the team lead and ranking tied for second in the American League.

KINSLER HITS 300TH CAREER DOUBLE: Ian Kinsler hit the 300th double of his major league career in the fifth inning of last night’s game. Kinsler became the 40th second baseman in major league history to hit 300 career doubles.

SORIA SLAMS THE DOOR: Joakim Soria worked a scoreless ninth inning last night to pick up his 13th save of the season. Soria extended his scoreless streak to nine straight outings, a stretch that spans 9.1 innings. In addition, Soria has not allowed a run in 15 of his last 16 appearances. In 19 outings this season, Soria has a 2-0 record with 13 saves and a 1.00 ERA (18.0IP/2ER) with nine hits allowed, three walks and 15 strikeouts. Soria currently ranks second in the American League with 17 games finished, while he is tied for third with 13 saves and tied for eighth with a 1.00 ERA.

MIGGY NEARING 1,400 CAREER RBI: Miguel Cabrera enters today’s game within reach of a career milestone. Cabrera is one RBI away from 1,400 in his major league career. Cabrera will become the second Venezuelan-born player, joining Andres Galarraga (1,425 RBI), and the 76th player in major league history to reach the 1,400 career RBI mark.

STREAKING: J.D. Martinez enters today’s game with an 11-game hitting streak, while Miguel Cabrera has an eight-game hitting streak. Martinez is hitting .410 (16×39) with seven runs scored, two doubles, two home runs and three RBI over his last 11 games. Cabrera is batting .387 (12×31) with seven runs scored, a double, a triple, four home runs and nine RBI over during his streak. The 11-game hitting streak for Martinez is the longest by a Tigers hitter this season and is tied for the second-longest active hitting streak in the American League.

ROOKIES ON DECK – DETROIT’S FUTURE BROADCAST STARS: This season FOX Sports Detroit broadcaster Rod Allen shares his experience as a major league broadcaster with the next generation of broadcast stars. Allen hosts 125 students from the Radio and Television Broadcast program at the Detroit School of Arts. The students and teachers attend the game courtesy of Allen and the Detroit Tigers. Seniors of the program are treated to a special experience prior to the game, learning more about the broadcast and media operations of the Detroit Tigers.
