RECENT RESULTS: The Tigers had their three-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday night as they dropped a 12-3 decision to the Cubs at Comerica Park. Yoenis Cespedes drove in all three runs for the Tigers, hitting a three-run home run, his ninth of the season. Ian Kinsler added two hits and scored a run in the loss. Shane Greene started for Detroit and suffered the loss, allowing five runs on seven hits with one walk and three strikeouts in 3.0 innings. The Tigers continue their seven-game homestand tonight as they open a three-game series vs. Cleveland. Following this weekend’s series vs. the Indians, the homestand concludes with a two-game Interleague series vs. Cincinnati.

KROL RECALLED FROM TOLEDO, GREENE OPTIONED: The Tigers on Thursday announced that they have recalled the contract of lefthanded pitcher Ian Krol from Triple A Toledo. In 14 appearances with the Mud Hens, Krol had a 1-0 record with a 1.15 ERA (15.2IP/2ER) and 18 strikeouts. In a corresponding move, the Tigers today announced that they have optioned the contract of righthanded pitcher Shane Greene to Toledo.

ALL GOOD THINGS MUST COME TO AN END: Miguel Cabrera had his streak of reaching base safely snapped at 27 games on Wednesday night as he went 0x3. During the 27- game streak, Cabrera hit .327 (32×98) with 16 runs scored, five doubles, one triple, six home runs and 18 RBI. Cabrera’s on-base streak was the longest by a Tigers player this season and was the longest for Cabrera since he reached base safely in 32 straight games from July 20-August 29, 2013.

THREE TIGERS ON TARGET VS. SALAZAR: Ian Kinsler, Nick Castellanos and Miguel Cabrera have each had success against Danny Salazar. Kinsler is hitting .417 (5×12) with a home run and four RBI, while Castellanos is batting .364 (4×11) with two doubles, a home run and a RBI. Cabrera has compiled a .353 (6×17) batting average with a double, a home run and two RBI.

WINNING WAYS VS. CLEVELAND: The Tigers have had success against the Indians in recent seasons. Since the start of the 2013 season, Detroit has posted a 31-13 record vs. Cleveland, including winning 12 of the last 14 games against the Indians. During the 44-game stretch, the Tigers have outscored the Indians 261-192.
